UK Public Affairs Director

Job Summary

Leading government affairs initiatives, the full-time salaried UK Public Affairs Director will develop and execute public policy strategies, engage with UK government stakeholders, and advocate for Shopify's interests remotely from the United Kingdom.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement Shopify's government affairs and public policy strategy for the UK
• Serve as the primary advocate with UK government, Parliament, and the policy community
• Lead engagement on key policy areas affecting Shopify and its merchants, including platform regulation and digital trade

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory advocacy in relevant sectors
• Established network within the UK government and decision-making bodies
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact policy and advocacy outcomes
• Strong data literacy and ability to leverage research for advocacy purposes
• Experience managing trade associations and external advisors
