UK Public Affairs Director

Job Summary

Leading government affairs initiatives, the full-time remote UK Public Affairs Director will develop and execute public policy strategies, engage with UK government and regulatory stakeholders, and build influential relationships to support entrepreneurship and commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead Shopify's government affairs and public policy strategy in the UK, ensuring alignment with political and legislative priorities
• Act as the primary advocate with UK government, Parliament, and the policy community, managing relationships with key stakeholders
• Coordinate engagement on critical policy areas affecting Shopify and its merchants, translating policy developments into strategic opportunities

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory advocacy within technology or adjacent sectors
• Established network within UK government, including Westminster and Whitehall
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact policy and advocacy outcomes
• Strong data literacy and ability to leverage analytics in advocacy efforts
• Experience managing trade associations and external advisors effectively
