Underwriting Consultant

Job Summary

Bringing expertise and judgment to a full-time Underwriting Consultant position, the successful candidate will assess complex mortality risks, review high-net-worth and foreign national life insurance applications, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver thoughtful underwriting decisions while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver thoughtful underwriting decisions by assessing medical and non-medical risks for individual life insurance applications
• Build trusted relationships through clear communication of underwriting decisions and education for agents and partners
• Support and develop others by mentoring fellow underwriters and leading educational sessions on underwriting topics

Required qualifications

• 7-10 years of relevant underwriting experience
• Strong technical and financial underwriting skills
• Mastery of underwriting principles, insurance medicine, and life insurance contract law
• College degree preferred; high school diploma required
• CLU, FALU, and/or FLMI designation preferred or in progress
