Job Summary
To support the development and continuous improvement of a comprehensive privacy program, the full-time University Privacy Officer will manage privacy governance, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance while working remotely across various approved states.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and governance of a scalable, risk-based privacy program, including chairing Privacy Committees and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Oversee privacy risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including third-party audits
- Design and implement a comprehensive privacy training and awareness program to promote responsible data stewardship across the University
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in privacy, compliance, or risk management
- Relevant privacy-related professional certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPM, or CIPT
- Strong knowledge of U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including FERPA, GLBA, and HIPAA
- Experience in complex organizations handling large volumes of personal data and multi-jurisdictional regulatory obligations
- Demonstrated analytical skills to assess compliance risks and develop appropriate responses
