Job Summary

Managing an assigned loan pipeline, the remote Government Mortgage Underwriter will underwrite complex loan applications for Government (VA/FHA/USDA) and Conventional (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) loans while ensuring compliance with investor and insurer guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite loan applications and ensure they meet applicable investor and insurer guidelines
• Analyze borrower income, assets, and credit documentation to facilitate timely loan closings
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with sales, processing, and compliance teams

Required qualifications

• Current VA SAR Designation with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience, preferably with new builds
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws related to mortgage underwriting
• Proficiency in navigating loan origination software and basic computer skills
• Ability to read and interpret various loan documents and effectively present information
