Vice President of Development

Job Summary

Providing strategic and operational leadership for the Development and External Affairs department, the fully remote Vice President of Development will manage annual operating planning, donor engagement strategies, and team coordination to achieve ambitious revenue goals while overseeing a team of 8.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the operating strategy for the Development & External Affairs team, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and effective execution of fundraising activities
• Oversee systems, workflows, and team coordination across Development and External Affairs functions, including donor communications and major giving strategies
• Develop and implement the annual operating plan, goals, and KPIs for the team, tracking progress and recommending adjustments to meet revenue targets

Required qualifications

• 12-15+ years of progressive experience in development, external affairs, or a related field, with a focus on enterprise-level strategy and systems
• Experience securing transformational gifts and understanding of effective donor stewardship and engagement
• Proven track record in leading and developing teams across various development functions
• Strong ability to partner with C-suite leaders and boards for high-stakes donor engagements
• Deep understanding of fundraising operating models, including CRM systems and performance management frameworks
