Vice President of Underwriting

Job Summary

Leading the underwriting operations for the Southwest Region, the remote Vice President of Underwriting will drive profitable growth, oversee a team of underwriters, and manage broker relationships while executing strategic business plans and ensuring underwriting excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all underwriting operations and business performance for the Southwest Zone, focusing on profitable premium growth
• Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing underwriting team while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key wholesale brokers and strategic distribution partners to expand market share

Required Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience, preferably in E&S or specialty insurance
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing underwriting teams and regional operations
• Strong technical underwriting expertise with the ability to evaluate complex casualty risks
• Proven success in leading profitable growth within a wholesale distribution model
• Excellent leadership and relationship-building skills with a strategic mindset
