Vice President of Underwriting

Job Summary

Leading the underwriting operations for the Northwest Region, the remote Vice President of Underwriting will drive profitable growth, oversee a team of underwriters, and manage broker relationships while executing underwriting strategies and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all underwriting operations and business performance for the Northwest Zone, ensuring profitable premium growth and adherence to underwriting discipline
• Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing underwriting team while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence
• Develop and strengthen executive-level relationships with key brokers and distribution partners to drive regional business development initiatives

Required qualifications

• 5-10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience, preferably within E&S or specialty insurance
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing underwriting teams and regional operations
• Strong technical underwriting expertise with the ability to evaluate complex casualty risks
• Proven success leading profitable growth within a wholesale distribution model
• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
