Vice President of Underwriting
Job Summary
Leading the underwriting operations for the South Central Region, the remote Vice President of Underwriting will drive business performance, oversee a team of underwriters, and develop strategic initiatives to achieve profitable growth while maintaining underwriting discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all underwriting operations and business performance for the South Central Zone, developing and executing regional business plans
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing underwriting team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration
- Develop executive-level relationships with key brokers and distribution partners to drive business development and expand market share
Required Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience, preferably in E&S or specialty insurance
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing underwriting teams and regional operations
- Strong technical underwriting expertise with the ability to evaluate complex casualty risks
- Proven success in leading profitable growth within a wholesale distribution model
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance growth, risk selection, and operational execution
