Virginia Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Seeking a Virginia Certified Coding Specialist, the full-time remote Coding Specialist 3 will independently review complex outpatient documentation and apply advanced coding knowledge to ensure accuracy and compliance across multiple ambulatory specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed review and assignment of CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and E/M services for physician billing
• Analyze clinical documentation to accurately identify services performed and link diagnoses to procedures
• Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to promote coding excellence and compliant reimbursement practices

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of relevant coding experience required, with a preference for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery E&M and procedures
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
• Strong understanding of medical necessity, diagnosis specificity, and payer-specific requirements
• Experience with Epic and coding review workflows preferred
