Job Summary

Detail-oriented and experienced, the full-time Virginia Licensed Appeals Examiner will conduct administrative hearings and issue decisions for unemployment insurance appeals and related matters while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct administrative hearings and issue well-supported decisions on various appeals and disputes
• Review case materials, research applicable laws, and ensure fair and impartial hearings
• Manage caseloads, complete administrative reports, and communicate professionally with stakeholders

Required qualifications

• Experience applying rules and regulations governing eligibility for benefits
• Proficiency in administrative law procedures and legal research methodology
• Experience managing a substantial caseload and conducting fair hearings
• Knowledge of statutory provisions governing unemployment compensation
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with the public and stakeholders
