Virginia Licensed ASL Interpreter

Job Summary

Providing effective interpreting and transliterating services, the part-time Virginia Licensed ASL Interpreter will support deaf and hard of hearing individuals during in-person and virtual classroom instruction, as well as various student services appointments and events, with flexible daytime and evening availability required.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver interpreting services for classroom instruction, tutoring sessions, and student services events
• Develop partnerships and educate community partners about interpreter services
• Maintain accurate record keeping and ensure confidentiality in all interactions

Required qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English grammar
• Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or equivalent certification
• Relevant work-related experience in interpreting
• Must pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one
• Comprehensive knowledge of deaf culture and language
