Job Summary
Providing effective interpreting and transliterating services, the part-time Virginia Licensed ASL Interpreter will support deaf and hard of hearing individuals during in-person and virtual classroom instruction, as well as various student services appointments and events, with flexible daytime and evening availability required.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver interpreting services for classroom instruction, tutoring sessions, and student services events
- Develop partnerships and educate community partners about interpreter services
- Maintain accurate record keeping and ensure confidentiality in all interactions
Required qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English grammar
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or equivalent certification
- Relevant work-related experience in interpreting
- Must pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one
- Comprehensive knowledge of deaf culture and language
