Job Summary
To support fair and timely unemployment insurance appeal services, a Virginia Licensed Attorney will conduct impartial administrative hearings, manage a caseload, and issue clear written decisions while working remotely on an hourly basis.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct impartial administrative hearings and evaluate facts to uphold due process and agency standards
- Independently manage a caseload, review evidence, and prepare legally sound decisions
- Communicate professionally with claimants and employers while supporting agency initiatives to improve processes
Required qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in law
- Considerable knowledge of rules and regulations governing eligibility for benefits and administrative procedures for conducting hearings
- Experience in interpreting relevant laws, rules, and regulations, and conducting administrative hearings
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to prepare and manage a caseload and compile hearing proceedings into written decisions
