Job Summary

Determining eligibility for various benefit programs, the full-time Virginia Licensed Benefit Programs Specialist will interview applicants, process applications for assistance, and ensure clients receive maximum eligible benefits while working both onsite and remotely.

Key responsibilities:
  • Interview applicants and determine eligibility for programs such as SNAP and Medicaid
  • Compile and analyze information to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Respond to appeal requests and participate in appeal hearings while providing referrals to social workers as needed
Required qualifications:
  • High school diploma with additional training and related work experience, or equivalent combination
  • Knowledge of public social service practices and interviewing techniques
  • Ability to analyze information and maintain professional ethics related to confidentiality
  • Experience working effectively within a team environment
  • Eligibility to drive and meet the County's safe driver policy requirements
