Job Summary
Supporting Neurosurgery Professional Billing, the fully remote Virginia Licensed Coding Specialist will ensure the integrity of complex clinical documentation and coding, focusing on accurate reimbursement and operational excellence in a leading academic medical center.
Key responsibilities
- Independently review, code, validate, and audit complex Neurosurgery surgical procedures and Evaluation & Management services
- Analyze provider documentation to ensure complete and compliant code assignment utilizing CPT, ICD-10-CM, and payer-specific guidelines
- Collaborate with providers and revenue cycle professionals to promote accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of relevant coding experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
- Advanced knowledge of Neurosurgery operative services and associated coding practices
- Experience with coding software such as Epic and EncoderPro
