Virginia Licensed Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Serving as a subject matter expert in neurosurgery coding, the fully remote Virginia Licensed Coding Specialist will independently review complex clinical documentation and assign accurate codes for surgical procedures, office-based services, and Evaluation & Management encounters to support revenue integrity and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Independently review and code complex neurosurgery surgical procedures, office-based procedures, and Evaluation & Management encounters
• Apply advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifier assignment, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements
• Identify documentation gaps and coding risks while ensuring complete and compliant code assignment

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of relevant coding experience required; neurosurgery experience preferred
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
