Virginia Licensed Forest Technician

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Forest Technician for the Rappahannock District.

Key Responsibilities

• Prevent and suppress wildland fires while enforcing Virginia's fire laws
• Inspect logging jobs for compliance with Virginia's Silvicultural Water Quality Law and assist with pre-harvest planning
• Educate the public on the benefits of trees and forests and assist with forest management activities

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of forestry best management practices and data collection techniques
• Experience or training in wildland fire or prescribed burning
• Ability to work independently and navigate various terrains in all weather conditions
• Completion of S-130 and S-190 fire training courses
• Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class B) within 12 months of employment
