Job Summary
Offering a remote opportunity, the Virginia Licensed Outpatient Coding Specialist will independently review complex outpatient documentation and apply advanced coding knowledge to ensure accurate code assignment across multiple ambulatory specialties in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform detailed review and assignment of CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and E/M services for physician billing
- Analyze clinical documentation to accurately identify services performed and link diagnoses to procedures
- Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to promote coding excellence and compliant reimbursement practices
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
- Approximately three or more years of professional outpatient coding experience
- Specialty focus preferred in areas such as Pulmonology, Hematology/Oncology, and Endocrinology
- Experience with medical necessity, diagnosis specificity, and payer-specific requirements
