Job Summary
Overseeing all payroll operations for a mid-sized organization, the full-time Virginia Payroll and Tax Manager will manage a small payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end processing of bi-weekly payroll for all employees and validate payroll prepared by the Senior Payroll Administrator
- Ensure accurate payroll tax filings and manage audits, inquiries, and tax notices while monitoring legislative changes for compliance
- Supervise and mentor the Senior Payroll Administrator, collaborating with HR and Finance on payroll-related initiatives and process improvements
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5-7+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Proficiency with payroll/HRIS systems (ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, Paycom, etc.)
- Ability to work hybrid in the corporate office in McLean, VA, with flexible hours to accommodate payroll needs
