A company working to hire adjuncts for institutions is currently seeking a part-time instructor for an online Introduction to Research course. This course is part of the Master’s in Health Education program at a university located in San Francisco, CA. It will be taught online beginning in September 2016.
Course description:
This course helps students acquire applied research skills and concepts that are needed to execute successful research projects. We will begin with exploring the preliminary considerations that go into selecting a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research design by understanding the definitions for these different approaches, considering philosophical worldviews, reviewing the literature, understanding the use of theory, anticipating ethical issues, and developing writing strategies. Students will have opportunities to practice essential elements of the research process, including (1) writing an introduction, (2) specifying a purpose statement, and (3) developing research questions and/or hypotheses. Ultimately, students will learn to communicate about the importance of using multiple methods of data collection to enhance translation of research and evaluation findings into improving public health practice.
Skills & Experience:
A master’s degree in counseling or health, or a clinical doctorate is required.
University teaching experience is required.
Teaching and/or working with diverse populations is ideal.
