Job Summary

A non profit animal organization needs applicants for an opening for a Virtual Shelter Medicine Senior Director.

Core Responsibilities of this position include:

• Develop and coordinate new and continuing education for professional veterinary and lay shelter staff
• Consult with shelters, veterinarians, communities and other professionals on medical issues pertaining to shelters
• Identify and develop opportunities to promote, expand, and improve programs for the care of shelter, homeless, and at-risk animals in communities

Qualifications Include:

• Regular travel required - up to 30%
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary college
• Minimum of three years of veterinary experience
• Current veterinary license in one or more states required
• Minimum of three years of shelter medicine experience, including at least one year working directly in a shelter that included substantial responsibility for population level issues
