VistA Subject Matter Expert

Job Summary

Supporting a major AI-powered modernization initiative, the remote VistA Subject Matter Expert will provide deep functional and technical expertise in legacy VistA environments, review code and documentation for accuracy, and advise stakeholders on VistA architecture and operational processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise on VA VistA systems and modernization initiatives
• Review generated MUMPS code and documentation for accuracy against actual VistA behavior
• Advise technical teams on VistA architecture, functionality, and operational processes

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered
• 8+ years of experience supporting VA healthcare systems and VistA environments
• Deep knowledge of VistA architecture, workflows, and MUMPS-based applications
• Experience supporting healthcare IT systems within complex federal healthcare environments
• Strong understanding of VA clinical and operational workflows
