VP Chief Underwriter

Job Summary

VP Chief Underwriter is a full-time senior underwriting leader responsible for overseeing underwriting production, risk selection strategy, and talent development within a team of underwriters.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership over underwriting risk selection strategy and ensure alignment with profitability objectives
• Deliver expert judgment on complex underwriting cases and maintain strong relationships with field leaders
• Lead and develop underwriting teams, ensuring quality, performance management, and compliance with industry standards

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience required; Master's Degree or MBA preferred
• 15+ years of progressive life insurance underwriting experience, including high face amount cases
• Demonstrated executive level underwriting authority of $20M+
• Experience leading large underwriting teams and partnering with various stakeholders
• Professional designations such as ACS, ALU, FLMI, FALU, or CLU preferred
