Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Washington Certified HIM Coder will code various medical services including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems while ensuring compliance with industry guidelines and organizational policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities and documentation quality
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and coding processes
Required qualifications:
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or similar coding credential
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, E&M coding, and HCPCS coding in hospital and clinic settings
- Understanding of medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
