Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Washington Certified HIM Coder will code various medical services, including hospital visits and procedures, using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting productivity metrics
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance coding quality and team communication
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or equivalent coding certification
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing compliance requirements
- Computer skills in a Windows environment, including proficiency in Excel and 10-key
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
