Job Summary
To support coding operations, the full-time remote Washington Certified HIM Coder will be responsible for coding various medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities as required
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and coding quality
Required qualifications:
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or equivalent coding certification
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in using computer applications in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and 10-key
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
