Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Washington Certified HIM Coder II will code various medical services including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining coding quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital and clinic services by assigning ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance coding quality and workflow efficiencies
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Health Information Technician, or equivalent coding certification
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding, along with medical billing compliance requirements
- Computer skills in a MS Windows environment, including proficiency in Excel and 10-key
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
