Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Washington Certified HIM Coder II will be responsible for coding various medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while pursuing ongoing education to retain certification
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and workflow efficiencies
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or similar coding credential
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, E&M coding, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Understanding of medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
