Washington Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

Supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coder will review and code various medical encounters, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and maintaining coding accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Review and code inpatient, outpatient, observation, surgery, and prosthetic encounters
• Apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards
• Identify documentation deficiencies and coding opportunities while maintaining HIPAA compliance

Required qualifications

• Active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent certification required
• Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience
• Experience with inpatient and outpatient coding
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS
• Experience with Oracle Cerner preferred
