Job Summary
To support coding operations, the full-time Washington Licensed HIM Coder will remotely code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Code various medical services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software and coding books
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities and documentation quality
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and coding efficiency
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Health Information Technician, or equivalent coding certification
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, E&M coding, and HCPCS coding, along with medical billing compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
- Understanding of medical science and disease processes
