Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Washington Licensed HIM Coder will be responsible for coding various medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards while ensuring compliance with billing and reimbursement guidelines.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities as required
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance coding quality and workflow efficiencies
Required qualifications:
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Health Information Technician, or similar coding credential
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows, including Excel and 10-key data entry skills
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
