Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, a Washington Licensed HIM Coder will code various services including ambulatory surgery, hospital visits, and clinic procedures by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services using encoding software and coding books
- Maintain coding quality and productivity by tracking and reporting metrics as required
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and coding efficiency
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder or equivalent health information credential
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, along with medical billing compliance
- Computer skills in a Windows environment, including proficiency in Excel and 10-key
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
