Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code various medical services such as ambulatory surgery, hospital visits, and clinic procedures while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for services delivered by healthcare providers using coding software and manuals
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities as required
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and workflow efficiencies
Required qualifications:
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder or equivalent credential in health information management
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
