Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code a variety of services including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding methodologies while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while pursuing ongoing education to retain certification
- Support team communication and workflow efficiencies to enhance overall coding quality and compliance
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Health Information Technician, or similar coding certification
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
