Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code a variety of medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while tracking and reporting coding activities
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and coding quality
Required qualifications:
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder (Hospital Outpatient, CPC, CCS, or similar)
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Windows and Excel
- Ability to abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records
