Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will be responsible for coding a variety of medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while pursuing ongoing education to keep certifications current
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance coding practices and team communication
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder or equivalent coding credential
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding, including official coding guidelines
- Understanding of medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key
