Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code various medical services including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, utilizing ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services, assigning appropriate medical codes using encoding software and coding books
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while pursuing ongoing education to retain required certifications
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve workflow efficiencies and coding quality
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder or equivalent (e.g., RHIT, CCS)
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, E&M coding, and HCPCS coding
- Familiarity with medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
