Job Summary
To support coding operations, the full-time Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code various medical services including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining coding quality in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for medical services using encoding software and coding books
- Abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records and perform data entry accurately
- Maintain coding quality standards and pursue ongoing education to uphold required certifications
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder or equivalent in health information management
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
- Experience with electronic medical record systems is preferred
