Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code various medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
Key responsibilities
- Code hospital and clinic services by assigning appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes using encoding software and coding books
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while pursuing ongoing education to retain certification
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team communication and workflow efficiencies
Required qualifications
- Completion of a vocational school or certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or equivalent coding credential
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and E&M coding, as well as medical billing and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Excel and 10-key data entry
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
