Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Washington Licensed HIM Coder II will code various medical services, including ambulatory surgery and clinic visits, while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining coding quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Code hospital, ambulatory surgical center, and clinic services using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Abstract medical information from electronic or paper medical records and perform data entry
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards while participating in ongoing education and team improvements
Required qualifications:
- Vocational school/certificate program in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines
- Certification as a Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or equivalent coding certification
- Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding, as well as medical billing and compliance requirements
- Computer skills in a Windows environment, including proficiency in Excel and 10-key
- Ability to participate in staff meetings and training as required
