Job Summary
Providing expert coding support, the full-time Washington Licensed Hospital Coder will review medical records, ensure accurate coding for reimbursement and compliance, and mentor coding staff while working onsite.
Key responsibilities
- Review medical record documentation and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions
- Identify and resolve complex coding issues and collaborate with departments to correct errors
- Assist in the testing and implementation of coding software and electronic medical records (EMR)
Required qualifications
- Completion of a college-based or AAPC/AHIMA approved coding education program
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient acute care or hospital-based coding
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems
- Credentials such as Registered Health Information Administrator, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Professional Coder
- Knowledge of acute care and critical access reimbursement requirements
