Wastewater Standards Engineer

Job Summary

To support the effective performance of water and wastewater systems, the part-time Wastewater Standards Engineer will assist in implementing and maintaining equipment and material specification standards, engineering design standards, and construction standards, working in a hybrid environment with three days onsite and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize standardization concepts to optimize engineering, control, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems
• Conduct research and provide engineering recommendations for projects, while maintaining approved manufacturers and catalog numbers in databases
• Collaborate with process owners to address equipment and material issues, and mentor less experienced employees in standards development

Required qualifications

• Knowledge of water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and chilled water systems, including their infrastructure and treatment
• Experience with engineering standards, utility construction methods, and regulatory compliance
• Familiarity with material specification processes and ERP system integrations, particularly Oracle
• Ability to conduct research and cost-benefit analyses related to materials and equipment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
