Weekend SQL Server DBA
Job Summary
To ensure optimal performance of client SQL Server systems during weekends, the part-time Weekend SQL Server DBA will manage urgent responses to critical alerts, execute scheduled maintenance tasks, and address ticket backlogs while working remotely for 17 hours each week, primarily on Saturdays.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the first line of defense for critical SQL Server alerts and urgent customer issues
- Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, including applying updates and managing database operations
- Work through ticket backlogs and manage handoffs from the weekday DBA team
Required qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience as a production support SQL Server DBA
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server versions 2012 through 2025
- Ability to write T-SQL and perform performance tuning
- Solid understanding of core DBA tasks, including backups and restores
- Practical experience with Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clusters
