WordPress Software Engineer

Job Summary

Joining the backend team, the full-time WordPress Software Engineer will support digital websites and applications for news operations, focusing on PHP and AWS development while creating and integrating APIs in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and enhance multiple websites using a PHP-based Content Management System
• Create APIs for consumption by other teams and integrate with various external APIs
• Contribute to AI-driven initiatives by building features powered by AI services or improving workflows

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience with web technologies
• Proficiency in WordPress, PHP, and AWS (Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, EC2)
• Experience building plugins, themes, and custom fields in WordPress
• Extensive experience with code versioning tools like GitHub
