Writing Advisor

Job Summary

Supporting medical school applicants in the application process, the full-time Writing Advisor will collaborate with a physician advisor to help draft, revise, and edit personal statements and other application materials, working remotely with a focus on producing polished and compelling documents.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a strong working relationship with the physician advisor to support applicants throughout the application process
• Assist applicants in restructuring content and ensuring logical flow in their essays and responses
• Edit and proofread application materials for clarity, tone, grammar, and word choice

Required qualifications

• BA and MA in humanities or a writing-heavy major (additional professional experience may substitute for an MA)
• 2+ years of experience in education, including teaching or tutoring in writing or humanities
• 2+ years in a writing-heavy role, such as editing, grant writing, or content writing
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and curiosity in a teaching or guiding role
• Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, with a flexible and adaptable approach to feedback
