Are you a civil engineer looking from an online or remote job? We can help. The Virtual Vocations staff screens thousands of telecommute listings to help people like you find their next career.

As an online civil engineer, you design infrastructure projects. This is usually for municipal projects like roads, bridges, and dams, but you can also design projects for private companies. To get a job in this field, you need an engineering degree and your Professional Engineer license. You have to work under a licensed PE for four years to get this license, so there are generally not entry-level positions that aren’t advertised as assistant roles. Remote or telecommute in this case may only refer to you not having a traditional office. You may still have to make site visits during both the design and construction stages.

To succeed as an online civil engineer, you need strong math and analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. Current job offerings include Telecommute Civil Engineer, Remote Land Surveying and Civil Engineering Cad Technician, and Telecommute Traffic Design Engineer.
