A linguist is someone who studies languages. This is traditionally an academic career in which you study the origin, evolution, and present day incarnation of languages. However, many employers use this word interchangeably with interpreter or translator. In terms of remote and online jobs, this is actually the much more common career. In this position, you translate live conversation, written text, or audio from one language to the other. While you do not necessarily need a degree, you do need to be able to prove that you are fluent in both languages.

To succeed as an online linguist, you need near-native fluency in two languages and strong communication skills. Job offerings include Remote Bilingual Kinyarwanda Kirundi Linguist, Remote Bilingual Tigrinya Linguist, and Telecommute Bilingual Chinese Linguist.
