Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Summary

To support the billing process in a remote capacity, the part-time Accounts Receivable Specialist will manage insurance and patient billing, ensuring prompt and accurate payments while maintaining compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Make calls to patients, hospitals, and insurance companies to research claims and obtain necessary information
• Follow up on unpaid claims and self-pay accounts to minimize aging accounts and ensure thorough processing before collections
• Document account activity in the claims processing system and perform quality checks on assigned claims

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare claims processing, billing, or accounts receivable
• Hands-on experience with insurance appeals and familiarity with ICD-10 and HCPCS
• Proficiency with billing software and payer portals
• EMS billing experience preferred
