AI-Enabled Software Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a forward-thinking AI-Enabled Software Engineer, this fully remote full-time position will maintain and extend applications for approximately 30,000 students, utilizing AI coding assistants while ensuring quality, security, accessibility, and maintainability of all deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, debug, and extend existing web applications built with Node.js, taking ownership of unfamiliar codebases
• Architect and build custom full-stack web applications, including APIs and database interactions, from requirements through deployment
• Monitor and improve performance, security, and reliability of production applications while collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience plus at least two years of software development experience
• Experience with server-side applications using Node.js and proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as JavaScript or Python
• Knowledge of full-stack application design and the software development lifecycle, including front-end and back-end development
• Understanding of secure software development, data privacy, and accessibility principles
• Ability to diagnose complex application failures and performance issues in production environments
