Algorithm Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development of advanced detection techniques, the full-time Algorithm Engineer will design, develop, and test automated detection algorithms for security screening applications, while working in a hybrid environment that combines onsite collaboration in Torrance, CA, and remote flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Design and test automated detection algorithms for various inspection modalities, including x-ray and metal detection
• Independently translate general requirements into functioning software and evaluate current detection technologies
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with internal development processes

Required qualifications

• PhD in Medical Imaging, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent industrial experience with a Master's degree
• 5+ years of relevant experience in object detection, image segmentation, and statistical analysis
• Proficiency in Python or C++ software development on Windows and/or Linux
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, and image processing toolkits like OpenCV
• Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS and containerization tools like Docker is preferred
